Klaviyo SMS pricing (2026): monthly plan cost, credits per text by country, and worked examples

Short answer: Klaviyo SMS starts at $15/month for 1,250 credits (1.20¢ a credit), on top of your email plan (Email from $20/month for 500 profiles). 1,000 US texts from a toll-free number need 1,240 credits, so the $15 plan. A UK text uses 6.226 credits, so it costs about 5.0 times as much. The free plan includes $5 of mobile messages a month.

Credits per text and cost per text by country
Each destination and number type uses a different number of credits. Cost per text = credits per SMS × price per credit. Klaviyo includes carrier fees in these rates.

These are the values Klaviyo's pricing calculator uses (checked 2026-10-29). MMS only to the US, Canada and Australia. Klaviyo's help center also lists older "legacy credit" values per country that differ from these, and accounts are moving to per-message rates, so check Settings > Billing for your own rates.
Worked examples: what you'd pay per month
Texts × credits per text, then the smallest plan that covers it, the same way Klaviyo's calculator works. Single-segment texts; a text that splits into 2 segments doubles the credits.

Rules that change the bill
- Segments: 160 characters per SMS segment, 70 with an emoji or special character; longer texts are billed per segment (153 or 67 characters each). Check the segment count in the preview before sending.
- No rollover: plan spend renews monthly and unused spend expires.
- Not billed: inbound texts, opt-in and double opt-in messages, replies to YES, HELP and STOP, skipped messages and previews.
- Billed: campaigns, flows, outbound conversation replies, and messages that fail to deliver.
- MMS: one image or GIF under 600 KB plus up to 1,600 characters, billed as one message at a higher rate.
- Rates can change: Klaviyo updates a country's rate when carrier costs change and says it announces changes in advance.
Is Klaviyo a good deal for SMS?
Klaviyo's per-text rates include carrier fees, which makes the bill easier to predict. A text to a European country uses about 2 to 11 times the credits of a US toll-free text, so if you text outside North America compare it with Mailchimp SMS pricing and the Brevo and Omnisend pricing pages before you commit.

How much does Klaviyo SMS cost?
Texts are paid from a monthly mobile messaging plan on top of your email plan. On Klaviyo's pricing calculator the smallest paid plan is 1,250 credits for $15/month, 10,377 credits cost $105/month and 26,176 credits $250/month (US dollars, checked 2026-10-29). The free plan includes $5 of mobile messages a month.
How much does one text cost on Klaviyo?
It depends on the destination and number type. Klaviyo's calculator counts a US text from a toll-free number as 1.24 credits, from a short code 1.101, a UK text 6.226, Australia 2.576, Germany 13.788. At the $15 plan a credit costs 1.20¢, so a US toll-free text is about 1.49¢ and a UK text about 7.47¢. Klaviyo says carrier fees are built into its rates.
Is SMS included in Klaviyo's free plan?
Yes, a little: the free plan includes $5 of mobile messages a month (Klaviyo says it depends on region and carrier). That is enough to test texts, not to run regular campaigns.
Do unused Klaviyo SMS credits roll over?
No. Your plan spend renews every month with your billing cycle and unused spend doesn't roll over. You can upgrade or downgrade the plan each month; Klaviyo suggests a lower plan if you keep having spend left over.
How many characters is one Klaviyo SMS?
One SMS segment holds 160 characters, or 70 if the message has an emoji or special character. Longer texts are split into segments of 153 (or 67) characters and each segment is billed. MMS holds up to 1,600 characters and is billed as one message.
What is Klaviyo SMS pricing in Australia?
On the pricing calculator an Australian SMS uses 2.576 credits and an MMS 14.553, so 1,250 credits ($15/month) cover about 485 Australian texts. Prices on the calculator are in US dollars.
