Short answer: Flodesk is worth paying for when you want unlimited sends priced only on active subscribers and its Lite/Pro bill is below Mailchimp (or below beehiiv Lite past the free cap). It is not worth it if you need a free sending plan — Flodesk Free cannot send email — or if Kit Free (10,000 subscribers) or beehiiv Free (2,500) already covers you. At 5,000 subscribers Flodesk costs $52/mo (Lite) vs Mailchimp $75, MailerLite $49, Kit $0 and beehiiv $109 (monthly billing, weekly sends).
Prices from Flodesk, Mailchimp, MailerLite, Kit and beehiiv (checked 2026-11-03), monthly billing, cheapest plan that covers the list at 4 emails/month. Flodesk rules from its help center (checked 2026-11-05). Flodesk has no affiliate deal with us — plain links, no “paid link” labels.
What Flodesk costs
- Free: forms, landing pages and link-in-bio — no email sending (Flodesk pricing).
- Lite: from $25/mo at 1,000 active subscribers; unlimited sends; up to 25,000; 1 seat; 1 workflow (limited-time bonus); Flodesk footer stays.
- Pro: from $28/mo; unlimited workflows; hide the footer; 2 seats; one-time product sales (Products help: unlimited published one-time products, one sales page at a time).
- Everything: from $54/mo; adds subscriptions, payment plans and unlimited sales pages (3 seats) — required for a paid newsletter via Checkout.
- Who counts: only Active and Soft Bounced contacts; unsubscribed, bounced and unconfirmed don't (Flodesk subscriber pricing).
- Yearly billing: marketed as “1 month free”, but the real discount in the price table is often lower — Lite at 1,000 is about 24% off. See Flodesk plans.

When you send a lot, Mailchimp's bill moves and Flodesk's doesn't
| 5,000 subscribers, sending | Emails / month | Mailchimp | Flodesk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 5,000 | $75 (Essentials) | $52 (Lite) |

When Flodesk is cheaper
- Vs Mailchimp at mid-to-large lists: at 1,000 Flodesk $25 vs Mailchimp $26.50; at 5,000 $52 vs $75; at 10,000 $72 vs $110; at 25,000 $162 vs $270.
- Vs beehiiv once you leave Free: beehiiv Free ends at 2,500; at 5,000 beehiiv Lite is $109 vs Flodesk $52.
- Frequent sending: Mailchimp's send caps can push you to a higher plan or tier; Flodesk's paid price does not change with send volume.
- Active-only billing: Flodesk ignores unsubscribed/bounced/unconfirmed contacts; Mailchimp still bills unsubscribed contacts that sit in the audience (unless archived/cleaned).
When Flodesk isn't the cheapest choice
- Any free-sending need: Flodesk Free can't send. Kit Free (10,000), beehiiv Free (2,500), MailerLite Free (250) and Mailchimp Free (250 contacts / 500 emails) can. At 250 contacts sending once a month, Mailchimp Free is $0.
- Small paid lists vs Mailchimp Essentials: at 500 Mailchimp is $13 vs Flodesk $25.
- Vs MailerLite Comfort at some sizes: at 1,000 MailerLite $19 vs Flodesk $25; at 5,000 MailerLite $49 vs Flodesk $52 (Flodesk is slightly higher here); at 10,000 Flodesk $72 undercuts MailerLite $89.
- Under 10,000 on Kit Free: Kit stays $0 through 10,000 for plain sending (no visual automations; Kit branding stays).
- Paid newsletter / membership: needs Flodesk Everything ($54/mo at 1,000). Platforms with free or cheaper paid-subscription paths (for example Kit Free under 10,000) can cost less on that feature alone.

Pros and cons (from Flodesk's own pages)
- Pros: unlimited email sends on every paid plan; price based only on active subscribers; published tiers with automatic upgrade/downgrade; forms and landing pages on Free; Checkout runs on your Stripe account with no Flodesk transaction fee listed.
- Cons: Free cannot send; Lite caps at 25,000 with 1 workflow and 1 seat and keeps the Flodesk footer; subscriptions and payment plans are Everything-only; yearly “1 month free” marketing doesn't always match the price-table discount; Products access differs by plan (Products per plan).
Deliverability: Flodesk emails going to spam
Search demand for “flodesk going to spam” / “flodesk emails going to spam” is real. Flodesk's own help says landing in spam after a platform switch is a common, usually temporary issue because inbox providers see new sending infrastructure — not proof you did something wrong.
- Send from a custom-domain address and authenticate it (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) — not a free mailbox provider address (Flodesk: warm up a sending domain; spam after moving).
- Warm up: wait 24–48 hours after authenticating if the domain is new to Flodesk, start with highly engaged subscribers in small batches, and grow volume over 2–4 weeks. Aim for strong opens early; don't blast cold or inactive lists.
- Import only engaged, opted-in subscribers (Flodesk also covers this in its migration checklist).
- Avoid link shorteners and keep content/design practices Flodesk lists in the spam article.
- Ask readers to add your From address to contacts or mark messages “Not spam.” Flodesk says placement usually improves within a few weeks if you warm up.

FAQ
Is Flodesk worth it?
On cost, it depends what you compare it to. Flodesk's Free plan cannot send email, so for $0 sending it isn't: Kit Free goes to 10,000 subscribers, beehiiv Free to 2,500, MailerLite Free to 250, and Mailchimp Free to 250 contacts / 500 emails a month. Once you pay, Flodesk Lite starts at $25/mo for 1,000 active subscribers with unlimited sends. At 5,000 subscribers (weekly sends) Flodesk is $52/mo vs Mailchimp $75 and MailerLite $49; Kit is still $0 on Free.
Is Flodesk better than Mailchimp?
On cost alone, Flodesk is cheaper than Mailchimp at 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, 25,000 of the list sizes we checked (monthly billing, weekly sends). At 500 Mailchimp Essentials is $13 vs Flodesk $25. Flodesk bills only active subscribers and has unlimited sends on paid plans; Mailchimp bills stored contacts (except archived/cleaned) and caps sends per tier. Flodesk has no free sending plan; Mailchimp Free covers 250 / 500.
Is Flodesk free?
Partly. Flodesk's Free plan includes forms, landing pages and link-in-bio pages but cannot send email. Sending starts on Lite at $25/mo for up to 1,000 subscribers ($19/mo billed yearly). See our “Is Flodesk free?” guide for the Free-plan limits.
How much does Flodesk cost a month?
Lite from $25/mo, Pro from $28/mo, Everything from $54/mo at 1,000 active subscribers (monthly billing). At 10,000: Lite $72, and at 25,000 Lite $162. Lite tops out at 25,000; Pro and Everything publish tiers to 255,000. Prices rise with your active subscriber count since December 2, 2025.
Will Flodesk emails go to spam?
Flodesk says some spam placement early on is common and usually temporary after switching platforms, because inbox providers see new sending infrastructure. Its own fixes: send from an authenticated custom-domain address (not a free @gmail/@yahoo address), warm up by starting with your most engaged subscribers and growing volume over 2–4 weeks, import only engaged subscribers, avoid link shorteners, and ask readers to whitelist you. See Flodesk help articles on spam after moving and warming up a sending domain.
Does Flodesk support paid newsletter subscriptions?
Only on Everything. Lite and Pro do not include subscriptions or payment plans; Everything adds them through Flodesk Checkout on your own Stripe account (Flodesk adds no transaction fee of its own). At 1,000 subscribers Everything is $54/mo.
Is Flodesk yearly billing really one month free?
Not exactly. The pricing page markets yearly as "1 month free" (pay for 11 of 12, which would be about 8.3% off), but the published price table often saves less — and Lite at 1,000 is about 24% off ($25 → $19/mo billed yearly, $228 a year). See our Flodesk plans guide for the full yearly-discount breakdown.
