Short answer: Omnisend is worth paying for when you want an ecommerce-focused email tool and its Standard bill undercuts Klaviyo Email at your list size (at 5,000 contacts: $81/mo vs Klaviyo $100). Free can send — 250 contacts / 500 emails a month — same caps as Mailchimp Free and Klaviyo Free. It is usually not the cheapest vs MailerLite Comfort ($49 at 5,000) or Mailchimp Essentials ($75). Standard includes 12 emails per contact; beyond that (or for SMS since May 4, 2026) you need Pro.
Prices from Omnisend, Mailchimp, Klaviyo and MailerLite (Omnisend checked 2026-11-03; re-verified live pricing script 2026-11-06), monthly billing, cheapest plan that covers the list at 4 emails/month. Omnisend rules from its pricing page and pricing plans help article (checked 2026-11-06). Omnisend has no affiliate deal with us — plain links, no “paid link” labels.
What Omnisend costs
- Free: up to 250 billable contacts and 500 emails a month; pre-built ecommerce workflows; Omnisend branding stays; no custom workflows or SMS for new accounts (Omnisend pricing).
- Standard: from $16/mo at 500; send allowance = 12× your contact tier (e.g. 60,000 emails at the 5,000 tier); branding removable; some Pro features as add-ons from $5/mo.
- Pro: from $59/mo (covers up to 2,500 contacts); unlimited monthly emails (fair use up to 60×); SMS/MMS via separate credits subscription; dynamic content and advanced reporting included.
- Who counts: billable contacts = subscribers plus non-subscribers who can still get automated messages (orders without marketing opt-in, abandoned carts, etc.); only unsubscribed contacts are excluded; each contact counts once (help).
- Discount: first paid upgrade can pay 3 months upfront at 30% off those months only (then regular monthly). No yearly plan on the pricing page.
- Enterprise / custom: above 150,000 contacts Omnisend quotes a custom price.

Per month, monthly billing, sending weekly (4 emails a month), cheapest plan that covers the list. Omnisend and Klaviyo both count some non-subscribers toward the billable/profile total — if your “subscriber” count is lower than your billable contacts, real bills can be higher. When you send a lot, Standard's 12× cap can force Pro
| 5,000 contacts, sending | Emails / month | Mailchimp | Omnisend | Klaviyo |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 5,000 | $75 (Essentials) | $81 (Standard) | $100 (Email) |
| Weekly | 20,000 | $75 (Essentials) | $81 (Standard) | $100 (Email) |

| Daily | 150,000 | $180 (Essentials) | $90 (Pro) | $350 (Email) |
Cheapest plan (or higher contact tier) whose monthly send allowance covers the volume. At 5,000 Standard allows 60,000 emails; beyond that our calculator picks Pro ($90/mo for daily sends). Pro's unlimited email is subject to Omnisend's fair-use policy (60×).
When Omnisend is cheaper
- Vs Klaviyo Email at every size we checked: at 500 Omnisend $16 vs Klaviyo $20; at 1,000 $20 vs $30; at 5,000 $81 vs $100; at 10,000 $132 vs $150; at 25,000 $282 vs $400.
- Vs Mailchimp at 1,000 / 2,500: at those sizes Omnisend undercuts Mailchimp on weekly sends (e.g. at 1,000 Omnisend $20 vs Mailchimp $26.50).
- Free that can send: same 250 / 500 caps as Mailchimp Free and Klaviyo Free (MailerLite Free allows 2,500 emails at the same 250-subscriber cap).
- First 3 months: 30% off when you pay 3 months upfront on the first upgrade (Standard at 500: $11.20/mo for those months).
When Omnisend isn't the cheapest choice
- Vs MailerLite Comfort: MailerLite is cheaper at 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, 25,000 of the sizes we checked — at 5,000 MailerLite $49 vs Omnisend $81. See Is MailerLite worth it?.

- Plain newsletters without ecommerce automations: Omnisend is built around store workflows and billable contacts that include non-subscribers — a creator tool with a larger free tier (or MailerLite Comfort) can cost less for the same send volume.
- Very high send volume on Standard: hitting the 12× cap means Pro (or waiting for the cycle to renew) — see the frequency table above.
- SMS-heavy accounts on Standard: new SMS needs Pro plus a separate credits subscription; SMS rates are quote-only here.

Both bill non-subscribers who can still get automations. Omnisend Standard includes 12 emails per contact; Klaviyo Email's published send allowance is lower at many tiers — see <a href="/compare/klaviyo-vs-omnisend/">Klaviyo vs Omnisend</a>.

Full pair: <a href="/compare/omnisend-vs-mailchimp/">Omnisend vs Mailchimp</a>.
Is Omnisend free?
Yes, with limits. Free covers up to 250 billable contacts and 500 emails a month, keeps Omnisend branding, and does not include custom workflows or SMS for new accounts. Weekly sends to a full 250-contact list (1,000 emails) exceed Free's 500 — our calculator then picks Standard at $16/mo. Details: <a href="/guides/omnisend-free-plan/">Omnisend Free plan</a>.
How much does Omnisend cost a month?
Standard from $16/mo at 500 contacts (monthly USD, excluding VAT). At 5,000 Standard is $81; at 10,000 $132; at 25,000 $282. Pro from $59/mo (covers up to 2,500 contacts); at 5,000 Pro is $90. Self-serve tiers go to 150,000; above that Omnisend quotes custom. First upgrade can pay 3 months upfront at 30% off those months only (Standard at 500: $11.20/mo for the first 3). There is no yearly plan on the pricing page.
Is Omnisend good / legit?
We don't rate product quality or trust signals. On published cost: Omnisend is a live ecommerce email/SMS vendor with public pricing, a free plan that can send, and Standard/Pro tiers we re-check against its pricing page (last matched 2026-11-06). Scam/legit search phrases usually want that confirmation plus a cost comparison — use the tables above and <a href="/guides/omnisend-plans/">Omnisend plans</a>.
Does Omnisend include SMS?
Not as free credits on new accounts. Since May 4, 2026, new paid accounts need <strong>Pro</strong> to buy an SMS Credits Subscription; Free and Standard cannot send SMS unless they kept a legacy subscription from before that date. US per-SMS rates are published in Omnisend's help article and depend on monthly SMS spend — they are <strong>not</strong> in our email cost table (quote SMS separately). See <a href="/guides/omnisend-plans/">Omnisend plans</a> for the US rate bands we copied.
When do I need Pro instead of Standard?
When Standard's 12 emails per contact a month isn't enough, or you need SMS / Pro-only features (dynamic content, personalized product recommender, personalized sending time, advanced reporting — some are Standard add-ons from $5/mo). At 5,000 contacts Standard allows 60,000 emails; sending daily (150,000) picks Pro at $90/mo in our calculator. Pro's unlimited email is subject to fair use up to 60× your list.
