Is Brevo worth it in 2026? Cost vs Mailchimp, MailerLite and Klaviyo, Free 300/day limit and when Starter beats them
Last verified against official pricing pages · published 6 Nov 2026
Prices change often. Each price was checked on the platform's official pricing page on the date shown; plans, promos and taxes vary. Confirm on the official site before you buy. Not financial advice.
Short answer: Brevo is worth paying for when you want an email-volume-priced tool and its Starter bill undercuts Mailchimp Essentials, MailerLite Comfort and Klaviyo Email at your list size (at 5,000 contacts, weekly: $32/mo vs Mailchimp $75, MailerLite $49, Klaviyo $100). Free can send — 300 emails a day, up to 100,000 contacts stored — but that daily cap is the limit that matters once your list is above 300. Starter starts at $9/mo; send more often and you buy a bigger email tier (or Standard above 100,000 emails/month).
Prices from Brevo, Mailchimp, MailerLite and Klaviyo (Brevo checked 2026-11-03; re-verified live pricing API 2026-11-06), monthly billing, cheapest plan that covers the list at 4 emails/month. Brevo rules from its pricing page / pricing API and About pricing plans / Free plan limits (checked 2026-11-06). Brevo has no affiliate deal with us — plain links, no “paid link” labels.
What Brevo costs
- Free: 300 email sends a day (no rollover); up to 100,000 contacts stored; automations limited to 2,000 contacts; Brevo branding stays (Free FAQ).
- Starter: from $9/mo for 5,000 emails/month (up to 100,000); prices by email volume; logo removal is a paid add-on ($12/mo in pricing data); automations still capped at 2,000 contacts.
- Standard: from $18/mo; no Brevo footer; unlimited automation; A/B tests and advanced reports; up to 500,000 emails/month.
- Professional: from $499/mo (from 150,000 emails); WhatsApp campaigns, phone support, Analytics studio — see Brevo plans.
- How billing works: pick a monthly email volume; that tier also caps contacts (500 / 1,500 / 2,500 on the three smallest Starter/Standard tiers, then up to 500,000). Unused emails expire each month. Yearly ≈ 10% off; nonprofit 20% (help).
- SMS / WhatsApp: separate prepaid credits — not in the email cost table (SMS, WhatsApp).

When Brevo is cheaper
- Vs Mailchimp Essentials at every size we checked: at 500 Brevo $9 vs Mailchimp $13; at 1,000 $17 vs $26.50; at 5,000 $32 vs $75; at 10,000 $46 vs $110; at 25,000 $82 vs $270.
- Vs MailerLite Comfort at 500 / 1,000 / 2,500 / 5,000 / 10,000 / 25,000: at 5,000 Brevo $32 vs MailerLite $49 ($17 less).
- Vs Klaviyo Email at every size we checked: at 5,000 Brevo $32 vs Klaviyo $100 ($68 less). Klaviyo bills some non-subscribers as profiles; Brevo's paid tiers bill by emails sent.
- Free that can send + large contact store: 300/day with up to 100,000 contacts stored — useful for tiny lists or drip-over-days sends. Mailchimp Free / Klaviyo Free: 250 / 500; MailerLite Free: 250 / 2,500.
- Yearly / nonprofit: about 10% off yearly; 20% off for verified non-profits (help).
When Brevo isn't the cheapest choice
- Lists above 300 that need one same-day send on $0: Free's daily cap forces a multi-day send or Starter — MailerLite Free (250 / 2,500) or Kit Free (larger contact cap) can stay $0 longer for a weekly newsletter. See Is MailerLite worth it?.
- Paid newsletter subscriptions: Brevo's pricing/feature pages don't list paid-newsletter cuts, so our calculator leaves Brevo out when you need platform-hosted paid subs — Substack / beehiiv / Kit / MailerLite Comfort cover that path.
- Very high send volume: above 100,000 emails/month you leave Starter; Professional starts at $499/mo.
- Logo-free Starter: the no-logo add-on ($12/mo in pricing data vs $9 in help) can make Starter+add-on cost more than Standard at the same volume — Standard also unlocks A/B tests and unlimited automation.
- SMS / WhatsApp-heavy accounts: credits are separate; quote them on the SMS/WhatsApp guides, not as “included” email plan value.

Pros and cons (from Brevo's own pages)
- Pros: Free can send; Starter from $9/mo; prices by emails (often cheaper than contact-priced rivals at weekly cadence); yearly ~10% and nonprofit 20%; SMS/WhatsApp on credits; public API/price table.
- Cons: Free 300/day cap (no rollover); Starter automation still capped at 2,000 contacts; logo removal paid on Starter; unused emails expire monthly; paid-newsletter hosting not listed; Professional is a large jump ($499+); logo add-on price conflicts between API ($12) and help ($9) — see Brevo plans.
Deliverability (spam searches)
Google Suggest also surfaces “brevo spam” / “is brevosend spam”. Brevo does not publish a spam rate. Its own getting-started guide says inbox placement depends on setup, list quality and engagement, and tells senders to use a custom professional From address, authenticate the domain (Brevo code, DKIM, DMARC) and email only opted-in contacts (deliverability guide, domain authentication).

Is Brevo free?
Yes, with a daily send cap. Free includes 300 email sends per day (unused sends do not roll over), stores up to 100,000 contacts, keeps Brevo branding, and caps marketing automation at 2,000 contacts (<a href="https://help.brevo.com/hc/en-us/articles/208580669-FAQs-What-are-the-limits-of-the-Free-plan" rel="noopener">Free plan limits FAQ</a>). Our calculator treats Free as covering 300 subscribers per send — above that, one campaign has to go out over several days, so we pick Starter. Details: <a href="/guides/brevo-free-plan/">Brevo Free plan</a>.
How much does Brevo cost a month?
Starter from $9/mo for 5,000 emails (monthly USD, excluding VAT). At 5,000 weekly sends (≈20,000 emails) Starter is $32; at 10,000 $46; at 25,000 $82. Standard from $18/mo; Professional from $499/mo (150,000 emails). Yearly billing is about 10% off. Tier tables: <a href="/guides/brevo-plans/">Brevo plans</a>.
Is Brevo good / legit / safe?
We don't rate product quality or trust signals. On published cost: Brevo is a live email/SMS/WhatsApp vendor (formerly Sendinblue) with public pricing, a free plan that can send, and Starter/Standard/Professional tiers we re-check against its pricing API (last matched 2026-11-06). Scam/legit search phrases usually want that confirmation plus a cost comparison — use the tables above and <a href="/guides/brevo-plans/">Brevo plans</a>.
Do Brevo emails go to spam?
Brevo publishes deliverability setup steps, not inbox-placement rates. Its getting-started guide says deliverability depends on technical setup, list quality and engagement, and recommends a custom professional sending address (not a free @gmail/@yahoo address), domain authentication (Brevo code, DKIM, DMARC) and sending only to contacts who opted in (<a href="https://help.brevo.com/hc/en-us/articles/17378397412626-Getting-started-with-Email-deliverability" rel="noopener">Getting started with Email deliverability</a>, <a href="https://help.brevo.com/hc/en-us/articles/12163873383186-Authenticate-your-domain-with-Brevo-Brevo-code-DKIM-DMARC" rel="noopener">Authenticate your domain</a>). We don't claim a spam rate — follow Brevo's own checklist.
When do I need Standard instead of Starter?
When you need no Brevo footer without a separate add-on, unlimited marketing automation (Starter caps automation at 2,000 contacts), A/B testing, AI send-time optimization, advanced reports, a landing page, or more than 100,000 emails a month. At 5,000 contacts, daily sends (150,000 emails) pick Standard at $179/mo in our calculator; 3× a week still fits Starter at $65. Starter logo-removal add-on is $12/mo in Brevo's pricing data (help also says $9) — at 5,000 emails Starter+add-on costs more than Standard.
