Klaviyo has no Omnisend-specific importer. The documented path is a CSV export from Omnisend, a CSV import into a Klaviyo list, and a separate suppression upload for historic unsubscribes. Templates and workflows you rebuild. On cost, 5,000 contacts with automations run $81/mo on Omnisend and $100/mo on Klaviyo, monthly billing, email only.

Cheapest plan on each platform with automations that covers the contacts, one send a month, monthly billing, email only (SMS is a separate add-on on both).
How each counts people. Omnisend bills billable contacts — subscribers plus non-subscribers who can still get automated messages; only unsubscribed contacts are excluded (Omnisend pricing). Klaviyo bills active profiles: suppressed and unsubscribed profiles don't count (Klaviyo help). Both can count shoppers who gave an email at checkout without opting in. More in every Omnisend tier and every Klaviyo tier.
How often you send
Omnisend Standard includes 12× your contact count in emails per billing cycle; Pro is unlimited emails (fair use). Klaviyo's email tiers include 10 sends per profile a month. Same 5,000 contacts, different schedules:
| You send | Emails /month | Omnisend | Klaviyo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 5,000 | $81 (Standard) | $100 (Email) |
| Weekly | 20,000 | $81 (Standard) | $100 (Email) |
| Twice a week | 40,000 | $81 (Standard) | $100 (Email) |
| 3 times a week | 60,000 | $81 (Standard) | $130 (Email) |
| Daily | 150,000 | $90 (Pro) | $350 (Email) |
Each platform's cheapest plan with automations whose send limit covers the volume; we price the tier or plan that covers the volume rather than overage. Method: send limits.

Before you start
- No one-click Omnisend sync. Klaviyo's dedicated ESP paths cover Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Listrak, Mailchimp and Sailthru — not Omnisend (Klaviyo help). Plan on CSV.
- Connect the store first if you sell online: Klaviyo's ecommerce integrations bring customers and order history; do that before (or alongside) the list import so profiles can merge on email.
- Draft welcome flows. Turn list-triggered flows (especially the welcome series) to Draft before importing, or every imported contact can get the welcome sequence (Klaviyo help).
- Keep Omnisend active until contacts, forms and flows are verified on Klaviyo. Export before you Cancel or Delete.
- Expect reports to stay behind. Historical Omnisend campaign reports and statistics can't be transferred.
Step 1: export from Omnisend
- Role: only Owner, Admin or Analyst can export (Omnisend help).
- Audience → Export → New Export. Choose All contacts, Contacts by email subscription status (best for separating subscribed vs unsubscribed), a segment, or a tag. Click Export, then Download from the Exports tab when ready. Small lists finish in under a minute; 100k+ may take several minutes.
- Or export a segment/tag: Audience → Segments (or Tags) → Export next to the name → download from Audience → Exports.
- Columns you may need: Email, First/Last name, Email subscription status, Email consent, Email opt-in date, Email opt-out date, Tags, Segments, custom properties, plus SMS fields if you also move SMS. Tags and Segments land in a single comma-separated field.
- Split files: one CSV of subscribed (and optionally never-subscribed) contacts for the list import, and one email-only CSV of unsubscribed / bounced contacts for the suppression import. Exporting does not change subscription status.
To build an unsubscribed segment in Omnisend first, see Segment Unsubscribed Contacts.
Step 2: import subscribers into a Klaviyo list
- One main list. Klaviyo recommends a single primary list and segments for subsets (Klaviyo help).
- Format the CSV: email in the first column (header Email or Email Address), file ≤50 MB. Add an Email Marketing Consent column with Subscribed / Unsubscribed / Never subscribed, and Email Marketing Consent Timestamp when Omnisend's Email opt-in date is available. Map Omnisend's Email subscription status values into those three Klaviyo words before upload (How to import subscribers to a list).
- Audience → Lists & segments → open or Create → List → Manage list → Import contacts → Upload. Map columns; deselect what you don't need.
- Consent screen: if it appears, choose Only import the consent in my file unless every contact truly gave any extra channel consent you would apply with "Apply bulk consent".
- Wait for the import (can take a couple of hours), review Import history for skipped rows, then wait a few more hours before setting list-triggered flows back to Live.
Step 3: import historic suppressions
- Prepare a CSV with a single column of emails (unsubscribes and hard bounces from Omnisend).
- Audience → Profiles → View suppressed profiles → Import (or More actions → Import suppressions) → Upload (Klaviyo help).
- Do this before the first Klaviyo campaign or flow send. Imported addresses are suppressed from email marketing. Suppressed and unsubscribed profiles don't count toward Klaviyo's active-profile bill.
What moves and what doesn't
- Moves (CSV): emails and the properties you map, consent when you include consent columns/timestamps, and historic unsubscribes/bounces via the suppression import.
- Rebuild: segments (recreate filters in Klaviyo), signup forms, automation workflows, sending-domain authentication, SMS settings, third-party integrations.
- Templates: rebuild in Klaviyo, or import a .html file if you have the HTML (Klaviyo: import custom HTML). Omnisend's help documents importing custom HTML into Omnisend and copying saved templates between Omnisend accounts (Omnisend help), not an HTML export for leaving — we don't claim a one-click template export.
- Doesn't move: historical campaign reports and statistics.
Sunsetting Omnisend
- Verify on Klaviyo: sample profiles, a test send, forms and flows, and that suppressions block opted-out addresses.
- Cancel to Free (end of cycle): Store Settings → Pricing and usage → Plan overview → three-dot menu → Cancel plan. Paid features stop after the cycle; contacts and campaigns stay readable on Free. Log in at least once every 3 months or Free accounts are auto-deleted after inactivity warnings (Omnisend help).
- Freeze (optional): same menu → Keep your data for 12 months, one-time $50, once every 12 months. Shopify users must keep the Omnisend app installed or log in if warned — uninstalling still triggers deletion in 16 days.
- Delete only when you are sure: permanent removal of contacts, campaigns, automations and settings (manual request, or automatic paths above). Export first.
- Downgrade mid-cycle is different: it takes effect immediately and restarts the 30-day billing cycle with unused credit applied — useful if you only need a cheaper Omnisend tier while dual-running, not a full leave.

FAQ
Does Klaviyo have an Omnisend importer?
No. Klaviyo's "import from a previous ESP" help lists dedicated paths for Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Listrak, Mailchimp and Sailthru. Omnisend is not on that list, so the documented route is a CSV export from Omnisend, a CSV import into a Klaviyo list, and a separate suppression import for historic unsubscribes and bounces.
How do I export contacts from Omnisend?
Owner, Admin or Analyst role required. Audience → Export → New Export, then choose All contacts, Contacts by email subscription status, a segment, or a tag. Download the finished file from Audience → Exports. You can also export from a segment or tag page. The CSV can include Email subscription status, Email opt-in/opt-out dates, Email consent, Tags, Segments and custom properties. Exporting does not change statuses.
How do I import Omnisend subscribers into Klaviyo?
Turn any welcome / list-triggered flows to Draft first. Audience → Lists & segments → open (or create) your main list → Manage list → Import contacts → upload the CSV (≤50 MB). Map Email and an Email Marketing Consent column (Subscribed / Unsubscribed / Never subscribed), plus Email Marketing Consent Timestamp when you have it. On the bulk-consent screen choose "Only import the consent in my file" unless every contact truly gave the extra consent you would apply. Wait a few hours after the import before turning flows Live again.
How do I move Omnisend unsubscribes?
Export Omnisend unsubscribed contacts separately (Audience → Export → Contacts by email subscription status, or a segment of unsubscribed contacts). Prepare a CSV with a single email column and import it under Audience → Profiles → View suppressed profiles → Import (or More actions → Import suppressions). Do this before your first Klaviyo send. Klaviyo does not bill suppressed or unsubscribed profiles; Omnisend also excludes unsubscribed contacts from the billable count.
Is Klaviyo cheaper than Omnisend?
At 5,000 contacts with automations, Omnisend costs $81/mo (Standard) and Klaviyo $100/mo (Email), monthly billing, email only, so more on Klaviyo. At 1,000 it is $30 vs $20, and at 10,000 $150 vs $132. Both free plans cover 250 contacts and 500 emails a month. Klaviyo includes 10 sends per profile a month; Omnisend Standard includes 12× contacts in emails, and Pro is unlimited (fair use).
Can I move Omnisend email templates to Klaviyo?
Rebuild them, or import HTML you already have. Omnisend documents importing custom HTML into Omnisend and copying saved templates between Omnisend accounts, but its help center does not document an HTML export for leaving the platform. Klaviyo can import a .html file (Content → Templates → create/import custom HTML); strip unsupported tags and add a Klaviyo unsubscribe tag ({% unsubscribe %} or {% unsubscribe_link %}) before you send.
How do I cancel Omnisend after switching?
Keep Omnisend active until contacts, forms and flows work on Klaviyo. Then Store Settings → Pricing and usage → Plan overview → three-dot menu → Cancel plan: you stay on the paid plan until the end of the billing cycle, then drop to Free (read-only paid features; Free auto-deletes after 3 months of inactivity). Freeze keeps data for 12 months for a one-time $50 fee. Delete permanently removes contacts, campaigns and settings (manual request, or automatic after Shopify app uninstall). Export first. Uninstalling the Omnisend Shopify app triggers deletion in 16 days even on Freeze unless you keep the app or log in when warned.
